This days between dates calculator tells you exactly how much time separates two calendar dates. Pick a start date and an end date, and you instantly see the total number of days along with the same span expressed in weeks and days, in years, months and days, and in hours. It also splits the total into weekdays and weekend days, which is handy when only Monday-to-Friday time matters.
What the calculator shows
- Total days between the two dates
- Weeks and days, for example 10 weeks 3 days
- Years, months and days, the way people usually describe a duration
- Total hours covered by the period
- Weekdays vs. weekend days inside the range
If you enter the dates the wrong way around, the tool simply swaps them so you never get a negative result. Each field has a Today button, and the page URL updates with your dates, so you can bookmark the calculation or send the link to a colleague. A copy button puts the result on your clipboard in one click.

Inclusive or exclusive: which count is right?
By default, the calculator counts the way most date math works: from the start date up to, but not including, the end date. From Monday to Friday of the same week, that gives 4 days. Hotel nights, loan interest and elapsed time are usually counted like this.
Some situations count both the first and the last day. A vacation from June 1 through June 7 is 7 days off, not 6, and many event or campaign periods are described the same way. Ticking Include end date adds that final day. When a contract or policy defines a period, read its wording carefully: phrases such as “within 30 days” or “no later than” can change which day counts.
Leap years and uneven months
Months are not equal: February has 28 days, or 29 in a leap year, while other months have 30 or 31. That is why “one month” can mean anywhere from 28 to 31 days, and why the years-months-days result may look different from simply dividing the total by 30. The calculator works from the real calendar, so February 29 is counted whenever your range includes one. A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except century years, which must also be divisible by 400.
Common reasons to count days
- Pregnancy and baby milestones: weeks and days since a given date.
- Contracts and notice periods: how long until a term ends or a notice period expires.
- Travel: trip length, or days spent in a country for visa-style day counts.
- Projects: the duration of a sprint, phase or entire project, including how many workdays it spans.
- Personal milestones: days since you quit a habit, started a job or met someone.
If you need to exclude public holidays as well as weekends, use the business days calculator instead; if you want to find the date that lies a certain number of days ahead, the add-days tool is the better fit. And if you would rather watch the days tick down, you can turn any date into a live countdown on tempoo.
FAQ
How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?
Enter both dates in the calculator and it returns the total instantly. By hand, you would count the remaining days in the start month, add the full months in between, and add the days of the end month.
Does the result include the start and end date?
The default counts from the start date up to the end date without including the last day. Tick Include end date to add it, which is how vacation days or event periods are usually counted.
How many days are in a year?
A common year has 365 days and a leap year has 366, with February 29 as the extra day. Over long ranges the calculator counts every leap day automatically.
Can I count only weekdays between two dates?
Yes, the result shows weekdays and weekend days separately. To also remove public holidays, use the business days calculator.
Can I share my calculation?
The page URL contains your chosen dates, so copying the link lets anyone open the same calculation. You can also copy the result text directly.
